Raymond G. Robinson

Over 36 years’ experience in business law, civil litigation and criminal law. Mr. Robinson has worked with companies such as Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., Travelers Insurance, and MaxiCare Healthplans. His clients include individuals, manufacturers, service providers, medical groups, landlords, homeowners and a variety of commercial enterprises.

Areas of practice include:

  • Corporate acquisitions, mergers and divestitures, assisting clients build their business into nationwide providers of manufactured products. Purchased and licensed insurance companies.
  • Corporate organizations and re-organizations.
  • Handled employee issues including drafting employee handbooks.
  • Negotiated contracts with overseas suppliers obtaining a 70% reduction in costs.
  • A variety of private financing transactions and SEC exemption work.
  • Extensive work with charities and 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Extensive experience in regulatory compliance. Former head of regulatory affairs law practice for one of California’s 50 largest law firms.
  • Head of medical provider contracting for nationwide HMO/PPO. Individually negotiated over 1,000 hospital service agreements.
  • Negotiated provider agreements with ancillary healthcare providers, specialist physicians and medical groups.
  • Member of Traveler’s corporate wide ERISA Task Force.
  • Responsible for legal work for $600M in public offerings, as well as general SEC and 1940’s Act compliance.
  • “Deal” attorney responsible for the company’s real estate joint ventures with medical clinics, and drafted interest rate swaps.

Litigation: Representative cases include:

  • Represented California real estate developers against out-of-state lenders that used unfair business practices such as bribes to induce corporate executive to enter into predatory loans.
  • Sued hard-money lenders for predatory lending practices.
  • Successful class action lawsuit against major U.S. bank for unfair collection practices.
  • Intellectual property litigation, including trademark infringement.
  • Sued banks for lender liability issues in foreclosure cases, both retail and commercial property.
  • Adversary actions spawned by corporate bankruptcies.


Has written articles for the Los Angeles Business Journal and Best’s Insurance Journal.

Author and editor of more than a dozen Legalines, study aids for law students.
